Google Search’s dominance allegedly causes it to remove the paywall and make this feature available for all.

“ChatGPT search is now available to all logged-in users in regions where ChatGPT is available,” OpenAI stated in a blog post pushed out yesterday [December 16, 2024].

The search feature on ChatGPT has now been updated with “fast, timely answers” that provide links to relevant web sources based on users’ prompts.

Up-to-Date Search Results

The company noted that this blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more.

“ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what you ask, or you can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon.”

Now all ChatGPT logged-in users will be able to view real-time information from across the web.

"We're bringing search to all logged-in free users of ChatGPT," Kevin Weil, OpenAI chief product officer stated in a video posted on YouTube.

"That means it'll be available globally on every platform where you use ChatGPT."

SearchGPT Results Similar to Google

The new OpenAI search interface results were similar to the search results of Google and Google Maps, however, the clutter of advertising.

The interface is also quite similar to Perplexity but the latter is just a communicative version of Google.

"We're really just making the ChatGPT experience that you know better with up-to-date information from the web," Adam Fry ChatGPT Search product lead expressed in the video.

"We're rolling this out to hundreds of millions of users, starting today."

EM360Tech reported last month that SearchGPT is a large language model (LLM) that powers the leading AI and is no longer limited to its existing training data that was cut off in October 2023.

The new model will provide more up-to-date information. This means users can ask about anything from the latest medical research to live sports scores to the weather.
