“We’re seeing a big rise in semantics, context, topics that are crucial with AI,” Ole Olesen-Bagneux, the Chief Evangelist at Actian, tells Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Host, Producer and Tech Journalist, EM360Tech at Big Data LDN 2025.
Alluding to his talk at the event centred around Bagneux’s new book – Fundamentals of Metadata Management, he says, “the enterprise reality of metadata management and how you can use that to proceed with a stronger foundation of AI.”
However, some challenges could arise from the inevitable merging of data and AI. “Some kind of clash in the data management community” can be foreseen because “many won’t grasp that traditional data management is coming to an end quite fast.”
To name a few, traditional data management practices with engineering, pipelines, and BI tools, particularly, are coming to an end. He says that organisations are not fully prepared for that scenario.
