As official media partners of Infosecurity Europe, the EM360Tech team attended the event on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to interview IT leadership from across the cybersecurity industry.
In this vox pop, Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Host and Tech Journalist at EM360Tech, interviews Amanda Finch FCIIS, CEO, Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec). They discuss the inevitable integration of new technologies such as AI and cryptography into security and the necessity of managing both their benefits and risks.
Finch tells Dua whether it’s crypto, quantum computing, or AI, you’ve gotta work with it.
“You have to use whatever exists. People hail AI as bad or good, but the trouble is, it exists, and it’ll be used. The good people must use it because the bad people are using it. You’ve got to keep up with development.”
“You’ve got people without much training on the dark side,” she added. “They don’t know what they’re doing when they’re using these new technologies. They don’t apply it responsibly.”
“In many ways, the wannabe hackers are more dangerous than hardened criminals.”
These "wannabe hackers" with limited training can be particularly dangerous because they may apply AI tools without understanding the consequences or acting responsibly.
