In this interview, Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Host, Producer and B2B Tech Journalist at EM360Tech, speaks to Suresh Srinivas, CEO and Co-Founder of OpenMetadata and Collate at Big Data LDN 2026 in Kensington Olympia.
Alluding to the themes of this year’s big data conference in LDN, Srinivas tells Dua, “I see three themes, of course: one is context, then agentic AI and finally, trusted data.”
As founder of a company specialising in an enterprise context layer, Dua asks Srinivas about what makes Collate stand out in today's highly competitive context market.
“The general consensus is that context is very important for enabling AI, but there are lots of words being thrown around in the context salad, such as metadata, semantics and ontologies,” he responds.
This is where Collate stands out. “Collate has a comprehensive view of what a context is, which we define by highlighting 3 Ms: Metadata, Meaning and Memory,” he adds.
While many enterprises may have their own proprietary formats around semantics or ontologies, Srinivas says that one shouldn’t have a “siloed understanding” within AI. AI should look at one silo, understand ‘X ’, and then look at another silo and understand ‘Y’.
“To have consistent understanding, it needs to be unified – not fragmented,” the CEO of OpenMetadata said.
In terms of ontologies, having open standards is also important. “If context is your moat, it should be open source context,” Collate Co-Founder tells Dua.
