Whatever the industry is calling gen AI right now, Scott expects it to be gone, replaced by three more versions of the buzzword by this time next year. His advice on where to invest is the foundation, as always.
The AI boom got everyone excited, then reminded them they need context, semantic layers and ontologies. Scott says those are just other names for the structured, entity-level data every organisation already relies on. Get the basics right first, because with AI, it's garbage in, garbage everywhere.
Every year he sees the same pattern at the show: a frothy surface, and an undercurrent of "get the basics right and be able to tell a story."
