AI Large-Scale Mathematics | Andy Bell, Precisely @BDL

“AI is essentially large-scale mathematics. It can understand and learn to improve the data.”

In this interview, Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Host, Producer and B2B Tech Journalist at EM360Tech, speaks to Andy Bell, Senior Vice President, Global Data Product Management at Precisely, at Big Data LDN 2026 at Kensington Olympia, London.

At BDL, one of the main realisations Bell shared with Dua was that data is key and that having really good, organised data is necessary. “It may not sound exciting, but to get the right answer out of your AI, the data is absolutely central.”

When Dua asks what CEOs need to see value in, Bells says that CEOs need to see the ROI to see value in the enterprise. For instance, with automating routines.

“AI is essentially large-scale mathematics. It can understand and learn to improve the data,” he says. “Ultimately, we have guardrails and the governance on top.”

Alluding to his talk at BDL on AI Doesn't Know When It's Wrong: Here's How You Can, Bell talks about managing bias in analysis and how it might differ in enterprises. “You have to ensure you’re not introducing bias to your customers or in the type of customers you have or have bias within the data you’re trying to apply it to.”
