“We’re in an AI Hype Bubble Right Now” | Developer Relations, Databricks, @ Big Data LDN

“We are conscious to understand what the good AI is, what’s realistically going to work and what is a lot of hype,” stated Holly Smith, Developer Relations, Databricks at Big Data LDN 2025.

“Let's face it, we’re in a hype bubble right now,” she tells Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Producer and Tech Journalist at EM360Tech.

“The cost of getting it wrong can be bad,” Smith says, alluding to how badly implemented AI hurts businesses and getting it right is crucial for people’s jobs as well as business success.

Smith believes that it’s usually the seemingly mundane technology that’s actually making a massive impact. “It’s the things where you can compartmentalise it, take it down like a simple task, and that shows improvement in the general quality of life.”
