As official media partners of Infosecurity Europe, the EM360Tech team attended the event on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to interview IT leadership from across the cybersecurity industry.

In this vox pop, Shubhangi Dua, Podcast Host and Tech Journalist at EM360Tech, interviews Thom Langford, EMEA CTO at Rapid7, regarding the shift toward preemptive measures and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on cybersecurity enterprises.

“We as an industry have moved away from detection and response being the solution to everything. Now, we’re looking at the other side, which is the preemptive side,” Langford tells Dua.

“We’re actually trying to stop threats in the first place.”

It means understanding the attack surface, and understanding what the attackers are seeing using threat intelligence to preemptively make decisions based on what’s actually happening in the “criminal underworld.”

Previously, threat intelligence didn’t have the kind of fidelity, quality or timeliness like right now.

Langford says that AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) are the biggest challenge right now when pitted against numerous security AI tools launching. “We’ve seen AI-driven social media attacks are four times more likely to click on than ever before.”

“All educational awareness to reduce these AI attacks, where 10 out of 100 people are clicking to less than one, you’re now back up to five again.”
