Attempting to reverse the damage of decades of patriarchy within an industry that has consistently been male dominated comes with, as you could probably guess, a number of challenges. Fixing the gender gap in STEM is something that needs to come from people with power, but with such a few amount of people in power attempting to solve this issue, it often gets treated with low urgency. In fact, the gender gap in STEM can even be seen in the statistics of universities, with women making up only 16% of computer science graduates in the UK.
