The Gap Between Employee and Employer is Growing

home life vs work life....balance?

The divide between employees and employers is real and growing. Research from Omdia earlier in the year had begun to point out this growing chasm, and now Deloitte and Workplace Intelligence confirms it. The majority of people in the C-Suite have a different perspective than their employees.

This is one of the things that has made the "Return To Office" issues so difficult. One group sees it as putting things back the way they belong, and the other group sees it as having to give-up a better model.

This is why so many of us in the industry preach about "Magnet not Mandate." The right model includes turning offices into beautiful places that are meant for collaborative work, not individual work, adding all the necessary equipment, and making sure days-in are not determined by an arbitrary schedule but rather have a real purpose and agenda.

We also must do something to train managers to manage a hybrid workforce. We have to close this gap if we want to optimize the experience for everyone. If we don't, people will job-hop again and recruiting costs will continue to go through the roof.

It's only a matter of time.
