ITAM in the Age of AI: How AI-Ready Organizations Stand Out

ema

As enterprises expand their use of AI, IT asset management (ITAM) faces a new challenge. Knowing what technology an organization owns is no longer enough. AI-driven operations increasingly depend on accurate, current, and connected asset intelligence to support decisions involving infrastructure, applications, services, costs, and risk.

New research from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), ITAM in the Age of AI: EMA’s 2026 Maturity Benchmark, examines how prepared enterprise ITAM practices are to meet these demands. Based on a survey of 203 IT professionals at North American companies with 1,000 or more employees, the research finds significant differences between organizations with optimized ITAM practices and those that report being AI-ready. These differences include runtime data availability, CMDB accuracy, authoritative asset information, FinOps integration, AI governance confidence, and automated change-impact analysis.

Join Parker Hathcock, Research Director at EMA, as he explores:

  • Why AI is changing the role and expectations of ITAM
  • Where asset discovery, CMDB accuracy, and data trust still fall short
  • What separates optimized organizations from AI-ready organizations
  • How ITAM increasingly supports financial management, service operations, and AI governance
  • How organizations can strengthen their ITAM foundations for AI

Discover why the next stage of ITAM maturity depends on more than visibility. It depends on whether people and AI systems can trust asset data enough to act on it.
