The view that data analytics methods always require access to individual-level data is widely spread, as much as the view that Big Data analytics is antithetical to privacy or data protection. When choosing to embrace privacy enhancing technologies, though, a more nuanced – and exciting – world starts to take shape. And differential privacy should be playing an important role in this new world.
