David Walker, Field CTO, EMEA, Yugabyte, the company behind YugabyteDB, the open source, high-performance distributed SQL database, is charged with leading the technical customer engagement strategy across EMEA. David has a 30 year technology career dedicated to helping organisations exploit data across various industry sectors, including: financial services; fintech; retail; telco; manufacturing; transportation and public sector. He engages customers from initial design to production deployment, of both transactional and analytical solutions including data security and data governance.
At Worldpay Group plc, the payment processing company, he was the Enterprise Programme Director, responsible for a 150 person team (Systems & Data Engineering, Analysts & Governance) to deliver a PCI Certified Hadoop Environment & Micro-Service based analytics for real-time solutions. He has also implemented crucial systems for organisations including: the Dutch National Police, Diageo, Network Rail, De La Rue, Turkcell and Akbank. On the vendor side, he has been CTO for Aleri (an Event Processing start-up) and CTO of Infobright, a dual API Postgres/MySQL analytical database.
David is a regular conference speaker, including at Oracle OpenWorld, IRM events & Big Data Week Conferences. He has been a technical advisor for six years to ETIS, the European Telcos forum, on the Customer Advisory Boards of HortonWorks & Confluent and written many papers on data-related subjects. As an expert witness, David has provided testimony for Intellectual Property Rights claims and claims related to technology projects' implementation.
