The keynote speaker line-up brought together prominent figures and industry leaders from across the globe. With two keynote theatres – the X-Axis and Y-Axis – the 2023 programme covered everything from data observability and analytics to generative AI and data culture.

OVO and Monte Carlo on Data Observability

On Wednesday 20 September, OVO Data Director Katie Russell and Monte Carlo CEO Barr Moses joined a fireside chat discussing the evolution of data at OVO.

The session explored how the company aligned its technology decisions with company-wide KPIs and why data observability was critical to its mission of helping customers reduce costs and their carbon footprint using reliable data.

The Great Data Debate

The Great Data Debate brought together conference chairman and industry analyst Mike Ferguson and executives from leading software vendors to discuss the challenges, trends and success factors involved in implementing data and analytics strategies.

Tim Peake on Data and AI in Space Exploration

One of the highlights of Big Data LDN 2023 was a keynote from renowned astronaut Major Tim Peake, CMG, the first British European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut to visit the International Space Station.

Peake shared his journey to space and perspective on the value of data and AI in space exploration, providing insights into his experiences and the future role of data-driven technology.

How Generative AI Is Changing Data Culture

Databricks EMEA Field CTO Robin Sutara hosted a panel discussion alongside Di Mayze, Global Head of Data and AI at WPP; Natalie Cramp, CEO of Profusion; and Richard Davis, Chief Data Officer at Ofcom.

The discussion, ‘People, process and platform – is Gen AI creating a Game of Thrones and how can we lead our organisations on the AI revolution?’, examined the evolution of data culture in the generative AI era.

The panel also explored the implications of generative AI for organisations, including workforce dynamics, decision-making processes and the role of human creativity.

Abi Gilbertson, Technical Analyst at McLaren Racing, presented ‘How McLaren Racing uses Alteryx to pursue efficiency’.

The session explored how McLaren Racing combined its focus on innovation with analytics automation to uncover insights from complex data at speed and improve efficiency.

With 13 further theatres, including three new stages introduced for 2023, Big Data LDN offered an extensive programme covering the rapidly evolving enterprise data landscape.
