CxO of the Week: Carly McNally CFAO at Capital Enterprise

With 7 years of experience in operations, financial, and project management, Carly McNally is an exceptional professional. Currently, she is the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and Senior ERDF Programmes Manager at Capital Enterprise. Over almost a decade, McNally has become a bit of a start-up guru. Through her various roles at StartUp, IDEALondon, and Capital Enterprise she has fostered and cultivated innovation within the tech community.

The Capital Enterprise journey

Capital Enterprise is a body of connectors, influencers, investors and policy-makers, collaborating to support and serve London’s start-up scene. The company currently boasts over 60 members and stands as the UK's leading seed stage fund.  McNally began her Capital career back in 2011 as an Operations Manager. In her initial role, she was responsible for the day to day running of the organisation, financial management, and HR.  Within two years, she took on the role as Project Manager of Capital Accelerator Programme. As a result, McNally managed the Mayor of London ERDF funded initiative and provided resources and expertise to expand the provision of business support within London's digital, science and technology sectors.

A commitment to tech innovation

Afterwards, McNally transferred to StartUp for five months to undertake the role of Project Manager. Part-funded by the ERDF, StartUp was developed to support entrepreneurs across Greater London looking to start, fund and scale their business.   Following on from , McNally became an Innovation Centre Manager at IDEALondon alongside her role as Finance Manager back at Capital Enterprise. Capital Enterprise also manages IDEALondon, with support from Cisco and UCL. IDEALondon is a programme that supports digital startups and hosts a diverse range of events. After seven months in these positions, however, McNally swiftly progressed onto becoming CFAO at Capital Enterprise.

Changing the face of startups

OneTech is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to help 200 female and BAME-led start-ups grow in London. Led by Capital Enterprise and supported by JP Morgan Chase Foundation, the scheme intends to help companies led by underrepresented founders gain investment. As Senior ERDF manager, McNally oversees and supports the running of all Capital Enterprise ERDF projects including CAP-AI and CASTS. Above all, she is absolutely committed to "making London the best place in Europe to start and scale a business."
